Welcome!
I started teaching fitness professionally in 1981 and for the next 18 years I enjoyed teaching dance, as well as (AFAA Certified) cardio fitness, step, and spinning classes. I've included running, cycling, kickboxing. and a myriad of other cardio pursuits in my fitness journey. However, I understood over time that “impact activities” were actually breaking down the joint integrity faster. I wanted to maintain my cardio capacity, as well as increase my flexibility and range of motion. At age 35, I was on a mission to find a new way to challenge and condition my body.
I participated in my first Hatha Yoga class in 1998, (loved it) but it was the Bikram series that incorporated all five points of fitness (cardio, flexibility, fat burning, muscle toning, and strength). The 90-minute heated practice is the perfect workout for anyone at any fitness level. Stretch and strengthen your muscles, work your heart and lungs, flush out toxins, and lessen the lactic acid buildup so prevalent in other cardio/strength training endeavors. Therapeutically enhance every joint, ligament, tendon, muscle, and system via the tourniquet effect unique to Hatha Yoga. The mental focus required provides a meditative effect that calms the mind.
Summer 2016 we incorporated a fun, fast twitch, conditioning cross train to the studio with Inferno Hot Pilates, to give our clients and our staff 2 complementary and completely different ways to practice and train therapeutically.
You will witness your body transforming in 30 days, season to season, year to year. Becoming healthier, stronger and more flexible is an empowering experience that helps develop the discipline of a consistent practice and training regimen.
Our classes are designed for beginners - go at your pace, with the mindful direction of our teaching staff. Our roster is also a great place for advanced practitioners and athletes to experience cardio challenge and therapeutic effect.
Our studio is available for the hurting. Over the last 23 years I have witnessed people with painful disabilities gain relief, improve their overall health, and have a renewed sense of empowerment.
As the body heals and strengthens, the spirit renews. Hope you will join us.
Peace, and always, it is an honor to teach.
